ISLAMABAD – Minister for Defence Khawaja Asif has said that the government will evolve unanimity with all the political parties on the formation of Panama commission.
Talking to a private TV channel, he said that consensus on the proposed inquiry commission was much important for independent and transparent investigation. He said that the prime minister’s name was not mentioned in the report, adding that if someone has evidence than he should present before the commission.
The minister said that justice (r) Sarmad Jalal Usmani had earned good fame and nobody could raise objection on his integrity and decisions. To a question, he said that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan had admitted in his statement that making offshore companies was not an illegal act.
To another question, the minister said that the people of Pakistan had given mandate to the Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) for a constitutional term of five years and the government would complete its tenure. He said that the armed forces have rendered sacrifices in war against terrorism.
Asif said that it was the right of the people to know details of the funds which were collected in the name of flood victims in 2010 by Imran Khan Foundation. He also said through an audit people should know how much amount was collected and where it was spent, besides the balanced amount.
“Funds were collected for reconstruction of destroyed houses of the flood victims, but where these houses were built,” he questioned.
